I honoured the Labour Day weekend by doing exactly nothing. Well, the last two days I did nothing, the first day I moved a ton of my belongings from one place to another in a frenzied hurry that involved many stairs. I sometimes believe that the purpose of human civilization is to put stuff into cardboard boxes and then lug them around. At least that’s what the aliens must think if they are watching us. And this of is part of the reason I did nothing the next two days, my whole body hurt. Plus I just needed a break.

So here I am rested and regenerated. And about to tackle my ever  expanding To Do list. And one of the items on the list is “blog.” However, due to the aforementioned weekend of well deserved sloth, I don’t even have a draft post written. So no worries, I’ll let my readers call the shots. This is officially reader’s choice week, and I’ll write at least three posts if I get at least three suggested posts. Just leave a comment and I’ll do the rest.

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend here in the states. It’s a shame we don’t have much of  a labour movement in the USA anymore, or what we have has been marginalized. Unions may have their problems, but things were much worse before them. The above image is the walkout that started the Pullman Strike of 1908. The strike spread and paralysed much of the nation’s railroads. The army was sent in and 13 strikers were killed. It was kind of a big deal at the time, and resulted in the government making efforts to mainstream the labour movement. And the company towns that had been a main cause of the strike were declared “un-American,” and forced to dissolve. Sometimes the good guys win.
