The governor of Florida, in an act that is both mind numbingly stupid and utterly horrifying in its consequences, has extended an order that bans localities in Florida from issuing mask mandates. One couldn’t make this shit up. We are in the midst of a terrible pandemic, and the governor of a state outlaws the best known method to slow the spread of Covid-19. Some of the things people did to try and fight off the Black death seem pretty crazy from a modern viewpoint, but they at least have the excuse they didn’t know any better. The governor of Florida has no such excuse, he’s living in a fantasy world

So I’m back to being worried again. More worried still? Trump has convinced about 3/4s of Republicans that the election was fishy. I’ve talked to some of them now. Their belief is like people who believed in birtherism and 9/11 trutherism. No evidence required, they just cite youtube videos and such of various people claiming to have seen voter fraud, but no corroborating evidence was provided. Theories that are promoted without evidence can be dismissed without prejudice, and so far the courts have done just that regarding the dozens of lawsuits Trump has filed contesting the election.

So I hope the Biden transition continues and this all turns out to have been much ado about nothing. Trump’s last gasps, and then something like normalcy will resume. It’s a comforting thought. I’m not terribly comforted. We’re not out of the woods yet. After Trump’s latest case in Pennsylvania failed, apparently the plan is to take it to the Supreme Court. I think that’s been the plan all along, if even one of Trump’s lawsuits challenging the election gets to the SCOTUS, we might see a repeat of 2000. An utterly unconstitutional ruling that puts Trump back in the White House.

The shitsh*w continues. Trump gave a press conference at a tiny desk. (image above) He continues to claim he won the election. People had all sorts of fun with the image of him at a tiny desk, the Twitter hashtag #diaperdon trended for a while. Trump had a conniption fit over that too. This, this is what presidential politics in America has sunk to. The man who has no problem calling his political opponents names is mortally offended that people are calling him names. Go figure. And frankly, it was an odd choice of desks to give a presidential press conference from.

I guess it’s just amazing to me that in this day and age, when science and reason have given us a clearer picture of reality than at any time in human history, half of my country has retreated into a fantasy reality. Yeah, the rest of the country has their delusions too, but they understand that Covid-19 and Global Warming are real, and that Trump lost the election. Basically the people that never really accepted that the South lost the Civil War have seceded again.

I just have no idea how this is going to turn out. That’s technically always the case, but never in my life has the future been so uncertain. Except for me posting every day until the Trump era is over. That’s a certainty. If I stop posting, the deep state got me. Avenge my passing! Comments, shares, donations are also appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone. #StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula

Well, we’re one big step further towards living in an Evangelical Christian Theocracy. The new SCOTUS struck down Covid-19 restrictions on religious gatherings. It’s claimed as a blow for religious freedom. It’s nothing of the kind. The Constitution protects one’s right to believe as one wants, the government can’t outlaw certain religions. It has nothing to do with people’s behaviour. One can’t act any way one wants, then claim it’s a religious practice. If that was the case sacrificing one’s neighbors to the Gods would be protected. And that’s pretty much what the SCOTUS just did, it said holding Covid-19 superspreader events in the midst of a pandemic was protected as a religious activity.

OK then. Many many people will die because of this ruling, it goes without saying. Sadly many of them won’t even be the people choosing to attend these “Spread the plague in the name of Christ!” events. People will get infected at these events and spread it among the community. All because an organized religion wants to control America. The Evangelicals are not shy about their desire to turn America into a “Christian Nation,” where their interpretation of the bible is the law of the land for all, Evangelical Christian or not. This isn’t religion, this is organized religion; organized religion has a history drenched in blood, and our nation’s founders very much wanted to prevent that here, a nation where government wasn’t in any way run by organized religion. They are spinning in their graves at SCOTUS rulings like this.

Speaking of spreading the plague, today is Thanksgiving in America! Wait, what does that have to do with plague? I’ll get there. I’ve had increasingly mixed feelings about Thanksgiving over the past few years. On the one hand, a fall gathering of loved ones to be thankful for the good fortunes of the summer, sure. People have been holding holidays like that forever. It’s the attachment to the Pilgrims that is problematic. The Pilgrims’ relationship with the natives was hardly as portrayed in the usual Thanksgiving narrative. Moreover the original Thanksgiving Holiday was explicitly celebrating a giant massacre of natives. Yikes. Only in the last century or so was the “feel good” version of Pilgrims and natives promulgated. Read about it all here.

So I’m not celebrating that. I am thankful for my good health, friends, and family. And skol to all celebrating with me in this regard. As for plague connections, two. First off, the arrival of Europeans unleashed terrible epidemics into the new world, tens of millions died, entire native nations were essentially wiped out. And while there is no evidence for Europeans deliberately spreading disease, nonetheless when one’s uninvited “guests” arrive with horrible contagious diseases, it’s nothing to celebrate.

And in contemporary America, where the Covid-19 pandemic is at its worst level ever, an American dying every 37 seconds now, over 2,000 a day … people getting together for Thanksgiving is going to just add gasoline to the fire. Way too many Americans still don’t understand how serious Covid-19 is, thanks to all the leaders and influencers spreading misinformation about it, so as I am typing this a nationwide superspreader event is underway. Jesus wept.

I’m still baffled daily about how we got here, a nation not divided by two ideologies, no, a nation where half of the nation has their own (imaginary) reality. Global warming is real, and caused by human activity. Covid-19 is real, and the worst new infectious disease to come along in a century, if not a millennia. And Donald Trump soundly lost the election. These aren’t debatablebateable, they are established facts. Yet Trump and his followers reject all three and insist their imagined reality is true, despite all evidence to the contrary. A mystery for the ages, here is an interesting take on it: The Rotting of the Republican Mind. I think it’s a combination of a lot of things, but at its core, propaganda and advertising are sciences now, and daily more effective as a result.

Science, the thing mostly responsible for all the marvels of the modern world, is powering forces that may well destroy it. It’s one of the lines of argument that makes me wonder if ultimately intelligence such as ours is an evolutionary dead end. I always like ending on a bleak note. OK, looking like Trump’s coup attempt, or whatever one wants to call his attempt to deny he lost the election and go on to a second term … is pretty much over. Looking like we’ve hit the Watergate phase here. Trump will be shuffled off the stage like Nixon, pardoning people left and right. Ho hum. Or ho hum to me, I’ve certainly had enough of the man. Unless there is some new great perfidy, I’m gonna start phasing out my Trump coverage. The Trump era is fading.

A shame really. He had half the country in his thrall. And then with the arrival of Covid-19, he was handed an opportunity few leaders ever face. A horrifying attack on America, an attack all Americans would rise to resist. The likes of Pearl Harbor or 9/11. That’s what Covid-19 was, an enemy that wanted to kill millions of Americans. An attack that was utterly apolitical, it transcended politics. If Trump in March had donned a mask and led a science based response to Covid-19, the GOP and his base would have followed. And far far fewer Americans would be dead, and Trump would have been triumphantly reelected.

Yeah, didn’t happen. This goes into it: The Rise (and Fall?) of Trump’s Viral Death Cult. Oh well, we’ll see what happens next. The Covid-19 death toll will hit at least 500,000 before it’s under control late next year. If all goes well. Biden will try to reestablish the pre-Trump international order. He may or may not succeed. Covid-19 and Trump have changed everything. That was Trump’s, and by extension his followers, great failing. They didn’t understand that Covid-19 was real, not some libtard plot. In the weird alternate universe the GOP has been building since the McCarthy era, everything by the opposition is some subversive commie plot to destroy America.

Great strategy politically, always ends badly when it collides with reality. And here we are, the economy trashed, the pandemic out of control, the rich looting like there’s no tomorrow. We’ll see how it falls out, but still going with “This isn’t going to end well.” I suppose that applies to everything if one steps back far enough.

So this was the first day in months where I felt physically OK and not more than usual worried about imminent death. IE gee, I can get myself a “I beat cancer” T-shirt. Yeah, no. Looking like a mild winter here in Northern Iowa. Hoping it extends to other realms. My dreams have been freaking intense lately, like a second life. Stay safe and sane everyone. Maybe it’s just the joy of surviving surgery, and cancer, which does weigh on a man … but I’m thinking Trump is toast at this point. He’s been foiled at every turn in his increasingly desperate attempt to rewrite the election as a Trump win. Sorry Mr Trump, but a sharpie and an army of sycophants can’t change reality, Biden won the election. Sorry Ernest*, your guy lost, deal with it.

160 New York business leaders weighed in for transitioning to Biden. Basically the rich and powerful, the “made” people in the global corporate empire, who Trump has always aspired to be one of … have rejected him. He’s toast. Let me expound. The people that own everything are in a class by themselves. It’s not organized like say the Mafia, but in many ways it’s the same. Trump’s not welcome at the top, it’s over.

In other good news, Oxford seems to have developed a vaccine that will be easy to deploy anywhere, and at cost, which is minimal. This isn’t the best article, but close enough. There’s no such thing as “Big Pharma,” nonetheless the idea that the profit motive is the best way to motivate people is sick and wrong. Short version, we appear to have a vaccine that we can easily deploy anywhere, which gives us a shot at global victory over Covid-19.

And that’s what is required. Once again for those in the back, Covid-19 is not a new cold or flu. I know some long haulers, all Americans will (or will get to experience it themselves) as the virus rages out of control while the POTUS simultaneously ignores it, prevents the incoming Biden administration from coordinating with federal health agencies, and goes golfing. Most diseases only affect part of the body, colds/flues are limited to the upper respiratory tract. Covid-19 goes EVERYWHERE, I don’t think we’ve ever seen anything quite like it: Puzzling, often debilitating after-effects plaguing COVID-19 “long-haulers”.

Oh, Covid-19 is actually real. Many people predicted that since it was a Democratic hoax to make Trump look bad, it would magically disappear after the election! This would be like someone thinking in the US election of 1940 that the Nazi conquest of Poland and France was some sort of hoax, and would magically disappear after the election. Yes, it’s that fucking stupid. And Ted Cruz was a big proponent of same. Wrong Ted, Covid-19 is real.

Aside from my optimistic prediction that Trump will indeed be dragged from the stage, we’re not out of the woods yet. There’s still a lot of politics and wishful thinking poisoning America’s response to Covid-19, and there’s every reason to believe it will continue to explode. I’ll be straight up, I’ll bet before it’s over Covid-19 kills at least one person out of every three hundred, at least a million dead Americans.

In other words, we need to eradicate this disease. Any other option is mass death and disablement and economic carnage on a global scale. This is an object lesson for global warming, another threat that needs to be eradicated to avoid the same fate. Just the timeline is different. Will we pass either test? Damned if I know, but at least Biden acknowledges they are real threats.

I can live with that. So will a lot of people. Bye Don. #StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula

November 22, 1963. President Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas. Only US president to be assassinated in my lifetime, a huge deal at the time. I was only six though, and either wasn’t living in the US yet, or had just barely moved there. I do seem to recall a funeral on TV that was a big deal, maybe we moved to the US right after the assasination? I do remember a few months later the Beatles arriving in the USA, though I was confused, why were some beetles from England such a big deal? Even at six I was socially isolated, a life skill that serves me well to this day.

I still have piles of memories from then though. I’ve met folks who can’t remember their childhood, not me. This first place we lived in America we stayed for 1 ½ years, an apartment in Pearl River, New York. I could write a book alone about just that year and a half. Highlights include my first concussion (getting hit in the head with a rock was a common childhood experience then, the pre nerf ball generation,) a kid who brought a real gun to play gunfights, and my best friend burning to death. The lost world as I call it, it only lives on in memories, and mostly the memories of the young at the time.

Back to the present, Trump mostly skipped a G20 virtual summit on the global Covid-19 crisis, opting to play golf for part of it. If Obama had done that while more than an American a minute was dying of Covid-19, the screams of outrage from the GOP would have been overheard and recorded in numerous locations in Canada. Still, true to form for Trump. He’s pretty much abandoned America’s position of leadership in the world. Like pulling out of the WHO during a global pandemic. Great, OK, if we grant that the WHO wasn’t doing a good job, what’s the alternative? Trump’s got nothing.

That’s kinda where we’re at now, the GOP has been the party of “Nope!” since Obama got elected. Got an alternative to the ACA (Obamacare?) Nope. Got an alternative to the Iran Nuclear deal? Nope. The Paris Climate Agreement? Nope. I could go on, but why bother. The modern GOP knows what it hates and wants out of, real world policies to replace what they are pulling out of, nope. If making America an outsider and pariah on the world stage was what Trumpers wanted, they won! America the isolated, scorned, and pitied.

Reviewing the news for last minute notes, I see the fellow that popularized the “Ice bucket Challenge” has passed. ALS is a horrible disease. As my dad said when my stepmom was diagnosed with it, at least it’s a disease “uncomplicated by hope.” Even if one doesn’t die, most do, the small number that don’t are still very disabled for life. Think Stephen Hawking. My dad also said, not original: “Want to make God laugh? Tell him your plans.” His father (my grandfather) outlived three wives. My dad hoped marrying a woman 20 years younger would avoid that fate. Oh well, RIP Patrick and Ursula.

Final Doug’s Darkworld comment. Yeah, it’s great when some charitable endeavour results in money flowing to some good cause. The problem is, there’s no shortage of money. The modern world is rich beyond any caesar’s dreams, industrialization and modern science has yielded wealth almost uncountable. There’s easily enough wealth to address all of the world’s problems, including ALS. Instead, because of the unfathomable greed of the world’s rich and powerful, we live in a world where the charity of the poor and working class is touted as the “only” solution to such things as world hunger, ALS, and all the rest. It’s sick and wrong.

We never left the Garden of Eden, that’s a lie perpetuated by those who want the garden’s wealth for themselves. Christianity is a religion for slaves, as a lost friend put it. Stay safe everyone; comments, likes, shares appreciated. #StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula

After reading this article, Analysis | A vindictive Trump seeks to undermine Biden’s presidency, I realize we are in for a repeat of the Obama presidency. Basically four to eight years of the GOP claiming Biden isn’t the legitimate president, and obstructing him in every way while working hard on the state level to deprive poor people and minorities of their vote. This isn’t governing, this isn’t politics, it’s basically crime family gang warfare. It’s just grotesque, a mockery of government. All the while screaming that the Democrats want to destroy America, oblivious to the fact that they are making America ungovernable, and they are crippling all efforts to solve America’s problems. A party of spoilt children who refuse to play the game unless they get to make up all the rules.

And Trump is doing everything in his power to hand over a giant steaming pile of hurt to Biden on January 20th. Icing on the shit cake really, just the Covid catastrophe he is leaving Biden is going to be a nightmare. And before Biden even finishes his inaugural address, the GOP will have magically realized Covid is a monster and Biden is to blame. No doubt “Biden’s Covid death Toll” sites are already waiting to launch. As Voltaire said, paraphrased, once one gets people to believe in absurdities, it’s easy to get them to commit atrocities. And the right has definitely come to believe in absurdities. They think anyone not supporting Trump and the GOP is a stupid libtard who wants to destroy America, open the borders, and surrender to our enemies overseas. The libtards also want to take away everyone’s guns, install a communist government, and outlaw Christianity and Christmas. Yes, people believe this stupid shit, I know some of them personally.

It’s depressing as hell. On a personal level, while my surgery is healing up nicely (I’m gonna have a wicked badass scar under my eye, I’m going to tell people I got it in a knife fight,) I appear to have picked up a head cold. At least I sure hope it’s a head cold. So I’m pretty miserable, and don’t know how much longer I can write before collapsing into Nyquil dreams. I hope to sleep at least, I didn’t get much last night. On the plus side, I made a nice pot of fish chowder today. OK, what links I have left:

This was an interesting article: What Trump Showed Us About America – POLITICO. A number of academics weighing in on what they have learned about America during the Trump years. That Trump is so popular among so many Americans really has come as a shock to a lot of people. Me, not so much. I moved to the hinterlands partly because I was dismayed by some of the elitist attitudes of coastal liberals. “Flyover states” is the elitist liberal version of “libtards.”

America, the failing state. It doesn’t have to be this way, I guess we got the government we deserved? We were likely the best prepared nation on the planet to face something like Covid-19. Granted we had flaws, Covid-19 was going to hurt, but still: Opinion | How America could have fought covid-19 better. That leads into the whole nightmare American health care system, the shame of the developed world. Again, there’s no reason for it to be this way other than corporate greed and fostered ignorance: Yale Study Says Medicare for All Would Save U.S. $450 Billion, Prevent Nearly 70,000 Deaths a Year.

I dunno. Climate of scarcity thinking has been fostered in America. The idea that there’s only so much wealth to go around, so that helping people means others suffer. The idea that if we raise wages, why, fewer jobs! Basically a huge number of Americans don’t understand that America is mind numbingly wealthy, and could easily provide working class and poor Americans with a vastly higher standard of living. It would mean cutting back on our obscene military spending, and actually taxing the people who have hoarded more wealth than they could spend in multiple lifetimes. It’s crazy really: Opinion | Is This Where We Are, America?

Lastly, in the “The stupid, it burns” file: Parents Tried to Cover Up a ‘Superspreader’ Dance. Disaster Ensued. Yes, parents, large numbers of them, people who claim to be adults, arranged a big High School dance in complete defiance of Covid-19 restrictions. Shit like this is a huge part of the reason Covid-19 is out of control in America. Maybe the main reason: Superspreader Events Played a Key Role in Igniting The Current Pandemic Globally. As my friend and mentor Sally said about contemporary America: “There are no adults.”

Here I was looking forward to Thanksgiving, and then I read this: Op-Ed: Thanksgiving is a tradition. It’s also a lie. I find the logic pretty persuasive. I wouldn’t participate in a Confederate flag waving parade or hanging black people in effigy no matter how traditional they were. Sigh. Growing up never ends. One would hope at least.

Let’s see, after meeting with Trump the Michigan lawmakers decided to stick with the law. Michigan goes to Biden by a comfortable margin. Georgia just certified Biden. Trump’s thin chances of overturning the election results in his favor just went from slim to microscopic. Trump continues to insist he was cheated out of winning, and his administration continues to refuse to coordinate with the incoming Biden administration. Unprecedented in American history.

Trump is also making all sorts of last minute global maneuvers to either box Biden in, or leave him with problems. An understated little side play in the war, while America is consumed with Trump’s election denial antics and an exploding pandemic that is killing thousands a day now. One person out of every 1,000 in North Dakota has died of Covid-19 now. If this was happening on Obama’s watch, the outraged screams from Trump supporters would echo across the Universe. Instead, they’re upset that California’s governor flouted his own virus guidelines. I digress.

The war, the one war. Started in the mid eighth century BC when Rome conquered its neighboring town, Caenina. That’s when the war started, the one the US is still waging today. Wait, what? That’s my theory on when what I call “The Imperial Disease” started. There were plenty of wars before and after that, but based on variations of “Kill them and take their land.” The Imperial Disease is the idea that you march in and say “You’re all Romans now!” Rome conquered most of Europe and environs, broke apart, but its parts continued to express the disease, finally cooperating to conquer the entire world in the so-called “age of discovery.” Where they discovered there was a whole world waiting to be claimed in the name of Rome!

Jesus, Rome, same difference. One of the symptoms of the disease is that people so afflicted think it’s normal and proper for their armies to run other countries. That’s why the US has been in Afghanistan for nearly 20 years with nary a domestic peep. Spending staggering sums of money, not insignificant amounts of American lives and blood, to prop up a quisling government that will evaporate when we leave. But, you know, freedom and democracy flow from our cruise missiles!

Sigh. One of Trump’s few good points was his questioning America’s enormously expensive overseas empire. Granted he pretty much didn’t do crap to downsize it, but maybe if he pulls out of Iraq and Afghanistan now like he is threatening, we’ll learn something. We’ll learn that us pulling out of there was like pulling one’s hand from a bucket of water, the water stays right there unchanged. Gee, maybe we didn’t need to stick our hand in there in the first place?

Yeah, I’m reaching. I still think we’re screwed. See above image. In local news, I continue to recover from cancer surgery. And I got a new patron! Woohoo! Thanks! Stay safe everyone. Comments, suggestions, shares appreciated.#StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula

Sedition. Noun: sedition; plural noun: seditions

“Conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.”

At this point Trump’s attempts to subvert the results of the election certainly cross the line into sedition. This is what really did it for me: Trump summons Michigan GOP leaders for extraordinary meeting. No one knows what they are going to discuss, but since Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of GOP lawmakers overturning their states’ election results and giving their electoral votes to Trump, it’s not hard to guess.

Trump is still maintaining that some sort of massive election fraud cost him the election. He has provided no evidence. Every lawsuit he has filed has failed. Georgia finished their recount, Biden won. This was not a close election, but Trump continues to act as if the election was stolen and he will remain president, utterly refusing to even begin the usual transition to the next administration. It’s not a plot though, Trump and his followers live in an alternate reality. I was forced to listen to a snippet from a recent Trump rally in Arizona. He claimed at great length how Biden planned to “eliminate the border” and just let people freely flow into the US.

This is so divorced from reality one hardly knows where to begin. It’s more or less claiming Biden is secretly a potted plant wearing a human suit. It’s that effing stupid. That’s what we’re up against now. A lame duck president who lives in an imaginary reality, and has sucked tens of millions of Americans into it. Folie à deux on steroids. That’s when two or more people go insane together and share the same delusional reality. Trump simply can’t grasp he has lost the election, his niece has a cogent take on it: Mary Trump: The president ‘gaslights himself’ — and is stuck believing there’s no way he could have lost.

I particularly liked “Donald does not strategize,” Mary explained. No, he doesn’t. Oh, epiphany time. This is why Trump, like Hitler, so devastatingly destroyed his parallel contemporaries. Trump took over the GOP not because he was a brilliant strategist, but because he actually believed the political speil he was espousing. Hitler’s rise in Germany’s right political sphere was the same, powerful politicians thought they could benefit from this political outsider, only to be sidelined, co-opted, or eliminated as Hitler’s alternate reality infected their base.

Trump is not a politician, he’s a man who believes he’s anointed by the Gods. Usually such people don’t go far in life. Sometimes due to a confluence of unlikely factors, they change history. This is one of those times. What a time to be alive. The Trumpers don’t realize they aren’t living in consensus reality anymore. And most anti Trumpers don’t understand that either. We have two conflicting consensus realities in mainstream America now.

Amidst the worst pandemic in generations, if not centuries. One out of every 1000 North Dakotans has died of Covid-19 now. No surprise, the states that took the least precautions are now the hardest hit. Might make one out of every 500 by winter’s end. Winter is coming gentle reader.

Stay safe everyone. For the folks who may have missed it, Covid-19 is a horrible frightening new disease the likes of which we have never seen before, and everyone should do everything in their power to avoid getting and spreading it. Anyone who says otherwise is lying or deluded.

The blog title is a truism that was popular in 78 or so, stuck up for inspiration in offices everywhere. The seventies was an odd decade. Aren’t they all I suppose? Truism or no, got through the reconstructive surgery today with no complications so far, and after recuperation, boy, do indeed have a lot of possibilities. First though, thank God for modern medicine. That’s a figure of speech. Many thanks to the hard working dedicated people who practice medicine in the US, especially during these trying times.

And they are trying times: Health-care workers are desperate for Americans to listen: ‘We didn’t go to nursing school to be martyrs’. And this: Covid-19 Live Updates: The Virus Has Now Killed 250,000 People in the U.S. 250,000 dead, the worst case scenario Dr Fauci suggestested last March. One American out of every 1300 dead. And no end in sight. Someone asked me what my plans are now that I seem to have beaten cancer? I plan to live through the coming winter from Covid hell, then I’ll reassess.

And keep blogging. While the country continues to self immolate. Self immolate as in the GOP spent decades promoting science denial and false arguments in defence of political positions. Though generally special interests disguised as political positions. With stunning success, half of the freaking country now understands neither science nor logic. And what happens when those people confront something like Covid-19 which absolutely requires a rational science based response? That was a rhetorical question.

Anyhow, now I am thankful to still be writing. Thankful to the readers who have expressed support. Looking forward to new things, like the cat above. But mostly just exhausted from two surgeries in three days. Planning to sleep soundly. Take care everyone. #StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula

The hospital called today, the first good news in awhile. The pathologist has looked things over, and they believe they removed all the cancer yesterday. Woohoo! So reconstructive surgery tomorrow, and if that goes well, I might be blogging for years to come! Front row seats to the collapse of the American Empire. And hell, Covid may get me yet, but sure doing what I can to avoid it. And speaking of personal tunnels, that’s me in 1978 or so. Me and my friends made a hobby of exploring old mines. One can see from the photo, not exactly up to modern codes. How the hell I survived my youth is still a mystery to me. Oh, Jenny Lee Mine, near Vernon, Nevada. A ghost town. Second pic this page is actually the tailings of the Jenny Lee, the entrance I’m coming out of is just off the right edge of the photo.

Thank you for listening to my TED Talk. Short post tonight, I have to be at the hospital at 530am. Today’s links and news: A scientist weighs in on Trump and company’s, well, toddlerism: Following the Rules. It really is that simple, Trump lost the election fair and square, and is now trying to change the rules to make it so he won. Pathetic. Now Trump’s firing election officials who pointed out Trump’s claims of voter fraud are completely unsubstantiated. God only knows how the cult of Trump is going to end, but as long as Trump is around, that’s what the GOP has become: The Republican Party Is Dead. It’s the Trump Cult Now.

Fun times. Former Secret Service agents speculating about having to drag Trump from the White House. This long and depressing article in the NYT: Why the 2020 Election Makes It Hard to Be Optimistic About the Future. Still, two exciting new vaccines, but not a magic bullet: The Latest Vaccine News Doesn’t Tell the Full Story. And of course, we still have dinosaurs: ‘Dueling dinosaurs’ fossils show Triceratops, T. rex, may have died after a battle.

One last link before I stagger off to bed. I’ll probably miss the bed on the first few tries, being able to see out of only one eye is confusing. Interesting article, basically posits that humans and Neanderthals warred for over 100,000 years. Makes sense I guess. Sadly it might explain why racism and “othering” come so easy to humans. The “other tribe” was wiped out tens of thousands of years ago, but we’re still fighting. Sadly against our own now.

Stay safe and sane everyone.#StaytheFHome #WearaDamnMask #FelesRegula
